Otorhinolaryngology Medicine

This involves the examination and treatment of ear, nose, mouth, salivary glands, throat and neck (incl. all structures of the neck). An ENT doctor should help you with the problems you have in these areas, whether it is of infecious- or surgical nature.

Angina (tonsillitis)
Inflammation of the tonsils. Is your throat inflammation recurrent (that it comes again and again)?  Is it associated with snoring? While a general practitioner may give you an antibiotic cure for throat inflammation, a ENT doctor will give you a more lasting solution. Chemical tonsillectomy? Tonsillectomy? Tonsillotomi?

Otitis media (MEDIA otitis)
Inflammation of the middle ear. Is this active or is it latent? Is the antibiotics demanding? How many ear infections have you had? Is there indication for gromlets?

Sinusitis (sinusitis)
Inflammation of the sinuses. Press over cheeks and forehead. Headache. Is this something that repeats itself, why? A ENT doctor will put a endoscopie in your nose, you may have a crooked nose septum? Big nose clams? That blocks the passage! Perhaps there is an indication to start with local esteroider? Needs of a CT scan of the sinuses? Perhaps you have a problem that is relatively simple to fix surgically?

INFLAMMATION larynx (laryngitis)
Usually caused by a virus, but ENT doctor will examine you vocal cords to exclude other patologies.

Swelling of a saliva gland in front or below the ear on one or both sides.  Often caused by a virus.

Are you tired and sleepy during the day? Wondering whether you sleep well enough? We can study with a sleep registration. You will first be examined by an ear, nose and throat doctor who examines the nose and throat. You will then be given a equipment to wear around your wrist for one night. The day after your night is being registated and discussed with your doctor. By reading the registration your doctor can see if you actually have apnea, how much you snore, where restless sleeping, when you sleep best, whether you have obstruction and event. where it sits.

Treatment if the sample is positive can be anything from nose surgery to palate surgery, weight loss or the need for a CPAP machine (a breathing machine that helps you breathe).

Cauterizing the nose
Epistaxis can be caused by rear and front bleeding, usually the front, and if this is a recurrent problem, this is treated in the clinic. This is easily done, and virtually painless with a little local anesthetic.

TINNITUS (tinnitus)
Sound only perceived by you in the ear. The sound can sometimes be rhythmic as heartbeats, or as a ringing, beeping or whispering sound. Tinnitus can be of different strength and character and it is usually most troublesome when it is quiet around you, such as when you try to sleep.

The reason may be in your ears, or from elsewhere in the body.
Treatment of tinnitus may be sound generators, other times we can remove the cause and thus ringing by removing earwax, treating ear infections or to put in a gromlet.  A radio or cassette player with soft music on the nightstand can help others

Dizziness (VERTIGO)
Dizziness is an unpleasant feeling of disorientation in space. It can give you the feeling of sitting on a carousel or on a boat. It may be with or without nausea / vomiting. Why one becomes dizzy can have many reasons, but within ENT one thinks first and foremost of three; crystal sickness (BPPV), viruses on the balance nerve (Vestibular neuritis) and Meniere.
